The Morning Watch Painting Crew
Provided by Stan Bressler
In the early 70’s, Sgt. Gene Senecal was in charge of maintenance of the police cars. Gene decided that it would look better to have the entire police car rims painted white. For the next month he sent cars up to the painter and had the rims done.
Some of the guys on the morning watch, Gary Lee, Vince Antista and Dennis Blackburn, decided they didn’t like the color of the rims.
Gary, being the car guy, got some cardboard and cut out circles so he could cover the cars wheels. He bought some black spray paint and the plan was hatched.
On a dark, quiet night the painters struck. At about 0300 the morning watch met behind the station and armed with paint and card board cutouts they repainted all the rims black and then fled out into the night.
In the morning Sgt. Senecal, who liked to wander around checking the cars, discovered the results of the night’s work. All of Sgt. Senecal’s attempts to have the culprits identified failed.
The word is even the supervisors thought it was funny–nobody was ever caught!
